AI-powered inspection for kerbs, channels, and the wider edge of the road network. We replace labour-intensive manual surveys with consistent, repeatable computer vision analysis of inspection footage.
The challenge
Kerb and channel inspections have traditionally been carried out by inspectors walking or slowly driving the network with clipboards. The work is labour-intensive, expensive, and inconsistent — different inspectors record the same defect in different ways, and small issues are easy to miss until they need full reconstruction.
Our approach
By developing CV-based detection models and automated reporting, we improve both the accuracy and efficiency of infrastructure inspections, including kerbs and channels. The result is a proof-of-concept solution incorporating state-of-the-art techniques, helping our clients stay competitive in innovative infrastructure management.
We adopt AI-powered workflows to complement existing pipelines — automating asset management workflows that were conventionally conducted by humans, including road defects and edge-of-pavement assets.

What the module detects
Kerb & channel alignment
Detects continuous kerb and channel runs and segments them by orientation and condition class.
Damage & displacement
Flags cracks, spalling, displacement, and missing segments that require maintenance attention.
Map-ready records
Each finding is geolocated, snapped to the road network, and exported in a format your asset system can consume.
Flexible capture options
The same kerb and channel module accepts footage from multiple capture rigs. For network-wide programs we recommend our dedicated dashcam instruments, which can be mounted in a high or low configuration depending on whether your priority is the road surface, the kerb edge, or both. See the Sensing Hardware module for full details.
Pair it with
Road Defect Detection
Inspect the road surface and the kerb line in a single drive — pavement and edge condition together.
Parking Sign Detection
Add a structured parking sign inventory along the same kerbs to complete the kerb-line digital twin.
